New Year’s Resolutions for your Business

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It’s 2012 and it is time to put positivity into action and make this year the best year yet. All around the world people are starting a fresh by going on diets, quitting smoking and working harder, but how about setting a New Year’s resolution for your hospitality business.
Try these three New Year’s resolutions, to boost your business to success in 2012:
1. January is the perfect time to identify your establishment’s strengths and weaknesses by carrying out a SWOT analysis. To do this complete an in depth review of your business’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and act on your findings. Not only will this give you a useful overview, it will also identify potential revenue streams, which should then be researched further.
2. As a business owner, it is important to spend more hands on time on your establishment. Working away from your business or just overseeing it rather than having direct involvement will impede your understanding of how the business is actually running.
3. Conduct ongoing, cost effective staff training and development. This will ensure that all members of staff are motivated and willing to work hard this year. Without effective employees your business will not run effeciently and profitably.
4. Finally, be happy and smile; meet and greet your customers in a friendly manner - if stress and issues are made apparent people will lose confidence in your establishment and not return. Repeat custom is essential and word of mouth is the most effective and cost effective form of advertising.
Enjoy 2012 and make it the ultimate year for you and your business!
