New Year, New Month, New Produce

Marking the start of 2012 and the middle of winter January is a month of change, especially in the food industry. With the Brussels sprout and game season coming to an end it is important to get yourself familiar with the best produce currently around, so your menus and dishes are seasonal, good quality and as tasty as possible.

In season this month:

Fruit
Blood oranges, bananas, clementines, kiwi fruit, lemon, oranges, passion fruit, pomegranate, rhubarb, Seville oranges, pineapple, pears

Vegetables
Beetroot, cabbages, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chicory, horseradish, Jerusalem artichokes, kale, leeks, parsnips, potatoes, sprouting broccoli, swede, truffles, turnips, salsify, shallots

Nuts
Hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts

Meat
Duck, hare, venison, woodcock, partridge

Fish and shellfish
